A 2020 Summer Part 2

Summer 2020. Street/Documentary.

I’ve always been into street photography and documenting life through photography. It’s less of what I’ve been known to post on my Instagram but it’s something that I’ve always loved doing. Having gone to the mountains less during the summer, I spent a little more time in the city and enjoyed the beautiful moments I captured within Calgary. It’s a friendly reminder to myself that beauty in life happens everywhere. It doesn’t have to be nature. In fact, it’s all dependant on how you see things.

The majority of these images were taken while out shooting with Mark. In fact, he just released his book called Shadow Aspect and I’m super proud and pumped about that. The images from his book were taken during the summer of 2020 and is a unique approach to portraying his life through detailed images of light and shadow. These images signify the thoughts and feelings of being diagnosed with Pure O (a form of OCD) during a global pandemic. There’s more to the book on Mark’s website Project Retto. You should definitely check it out.

A little colour and positivity to brighten things up during such dark times.

I love this shot. Mark actually captured a better frame similar to this which contrasts the lightness of the cross and the dark shadows casted.

Stay safe. Please wear a mask.

Campulance

I often joke that all I take are trash photos. The trash cans in this high school parking lot humoured me a bit how they were all bent over and just gave a sense of uneasy feelings. Totally relatable during COVID

Recreation is closed

I thought this was a cool frame with the chairs and the car seats out like that.

Mark and I stumbled into this man named Enrique who was out with his birds. We had a wholesome conversation and it was heartwarming to see someone so passionate in what they do.

Enrique showed us a bunch of tricks that his cockatoos could do.

Backflips

These birds seemed to be extremely happy and loyal towards Enrique.

Full 90’s summer night vibe

Smol detour.
